Top Gear Teases Final Season With Matt LeBlanc

The Grand Tour returns to Amazon Prime Video on January 18th, but Top Gear fans are in for a treat as the BBC has released a new teaser video for the upcoming season.

Set to become Matt LeBlanc’s last, the 26th series of Top Gear will feature an assortment of different vehicles including the Fiat Panda Cross, Porsche Panamera, Rolls-Royce Phantom and Porsche 911 GT3 RS. The clip also suggests we can expect a race between the new Bentley Continental GT and the Bentley Speed 8 race car from the early 2000’s.

In typical Top Gear fashion, the latest series will also feature an assortment of other adventures including what appears to be a trip where the three co-hosts test drive rickshaws and then make boats out of them. There also appears to be an affordable used car battle as well as a stunt featuring wing suits.

The new season will hit televisions “soon,” but there’s no word on an exact date. Regardless of when the series airs, it will be the last featuring LeBlanc. Back in May, the former Friends star said working on the show has been “great fun” but the extensive travel kept him away from his family and friends too much.

While LeBlanc is a well known celebrity, his replacements aren’t as they’re comedian Paddy McGuinness and former cricketer Andrew ‘Freddie’ Flintoff. That isn’t the only change as Rory Reid is also leaving, but will continue hosting Extra Gear.

Looks like the BBC has finally found someone with an imagination and love for cars like Clarkson’s to take charge. Now if they could just fire everyone at Doctor Who and start over there too!

    • ➡️ProtectOurHeritage⬅️

      Who’s that?

      • robotlogic

I have no idea who, but that teaser looked 100x better than any of the garbage episodes they released since Clarkson left.

        • ➡️ProtectOurHeritage⬅️

How do we know he has a love for cars like Clarkson then?

    • Perry F. Bruns

I have to disagree with firing everyone on the Doctor Who staff. Of all the Doctors, Thirteen seems to have found herself more quickly than anyone but perhaps Ten and maybe Nine. So I’d keep Josie Whitaker on as long as she wants to be there. I also like all three of the companions better than I’ve liked anyone since Rory, and Amy when she was first introduced. (I liked Rory and Amy a lot overall, and Rory throughout, but it felt like there were times when it was “The Rory and Amy Show Featuring the Doctor.”)

The scripts definitely need more emphasis on structure, pacing, and better adversaries, but dialogue feels pretty strong for me. I would mildly modify the console room…actually, I’m lying. I would have the TARDIS modify her own console room in real time by moving the crystals back away from the console so we could see what’s going on, and then have her make a few mods to the console so the Doctor had more to work with when explaining to her companions what she’s seeing. I still miss the giant silver console room from Eleven and Twelve, especially in “Library” form as Twelve had redone it.

I would rework the theme song again, since the current arrangement sounds unnecessarily distorted and too locked into the original. I felt like Murray Gold’s arrangements could get a bit overwrought at times, but Segun Akinola seems to have been working to a deadline. I think he can do better.

I actually liked the current cast with Matt and Chris. Doesn’t surprise me that Matt is leaving, he has all that friends money and didn’t need to do this show . Hopefully Chris stays with the show at least..

    • Perry F. Bruns

I like the dynamic that the three have, and will miss that. Rory being relegated seems unfair, as I think he had a lot to say and an effective way of saying it. He and Chris Harris seemed fun together as well. I’m with you on hoping Chris stays on.

      • Nordschleife

Thank you acknowledging Rory as well. While I did feel he got the short side of stick compared to the lovefest ChrisMatt I think they all interacted well.

  • GobbleUp

Applause! Matt has the personality and emotion of a 1980’s robot.

    Dud of a show.

Matt just cannot show any emotion worth a damn. Hate it.

  • Juan Alvarez

    Buller, Buller, Buller….

  • Six_Tymes

Current line up was great. I will miss Matt. I am wondering if Chris will leave then also?

If the new guys don’t work out, time to bring back the best three. You know who……BBC!
