Tesla Slams Into Infiniti After Running Red Light At 128 MPH

Disturbing footage has just been released that shows a Tesla Model S running a red light at high speed and slamming into the side of an Infiniti SUV in Miami Beach.

The incident happened on October 21, 2018 and the video is hard to watch. Captured by a nearby surveillance camera, the footage shows the Model S speeding into view traveling at a reported 128 mph (206 km/h).

As the Model S approaches the red light, the Infiniti traveling in the opposite direction starts to do a u-turn in front of the Tesla. Despite the driver (or the Automatic Emergency Braking system) of the Tesla trying to bring the car to a halt and avoid a crash, the incident was inevitable. The Tesla rockets into the side of the Infiniti, sending the SUV tumbling over down the road.

Fortunately for all involved, an ambulance was waiting at the red light at the time of the crash and was on the scene within seconds.

Authorities report that the Tesla hit the Infiniti at 93 mph (150 km/h). All three occupants of the Infiniti suffered serious injuries, including one with a traumatic brain injury and another with spinal fractures. According to Miami Beach Police spokesperson Ernesto Rodriguez, the Infiniti was almost cut in half by the Model S.

The 38-year-old driver of the Tesla, Hose Manuel Soto, surrendered to authorities on January 25 on three counts of reckless driving causing serious bodily injury.

  • DMJ

Horrible crash, what was that driver thinking, going through a red light at that speed?
P.S.: his name is Jose, not Hose. Hesus Christ!

    • S3XY

Probably had some music bumpin and was feeling himself and saw the red light and punched it because he’s in a Tesla. End result, very bad.

      • Mike anonymous

He saw the red light… and THEN punched it???…. because he’s in a Tesla?.

…It seems as though he may have been distracted while driving.

        • TheHake

Yes. Most Tesla drivers are douches.

        • Howfarr

‘Feeling himself’ like most tesla drivers and fanboys ^ do

  • TheBelltower

Hopefully Soto will get years in jail to think about how stupid that was.

  • charlie bear

Stories like this break my heart,

  • TrevP

at least that ambulance was right there

  • Loquacious Borborygmus

    That was brutal.

  • Jorge Salazar

is this news because it was a tesla, somehow musk is at fault, traveling at this speed the tesla car should have taken over the idiots driver choice to speed???? gov big brother now controlling our cars and speed… because of idiots who recklessly speed???? feel for the victims!!! many years in prison for the driver….he will claim tesla is at fault for not taking control of the car…

    • There wasn’t one word in the article saying that, this comment makes no sense. Just interesting thing to see that even in these kinds of scenarios you have a chance of surviving in a modern car. It could be any car and the article would be the same. If you don’t think this is news, no-one is forcing you to click on it.

  • HN

Driving at triple digit speed in city street and ran red light is unbelievable. The Tesla driver should be in jail for a long time and he should never allowed to drive any vehicle.

    • Romanovich

      classic way

  • You’re gonna post videos and .gifs of every single accident that you can get a video of? Or is this just some Testla hate? Damn fudsters.

    • Johnny rebel

Protest and boycott racist bigot hypocrite darky niggro thugs lives don’t matter propaganda trash who falsely acuses southern white culture and heritage of racism and hate and steal southern white culture and heritage!! Go Dixie and let the Confederate flag wave freely!!

  • Jason Miller

Take his license away for good.

    • Maher

No need to, as I don’t think he’s going to get behind the wheel when he’s in jail(hopefully).

  • Seats & a steering wheel

He should be jailed for a LONG TIME. What would possess someone to drive at those speeds and run a red light? On a separate note, might get get me one of those Infinitis!

    • S3XY

Gobs of instant torque. Ability to transport anywhere at any given time. Only issue, a car was turning.

      • rodriguez256

The issue was excessive speeding on a public road and then passing a red light.

      • Mike anonymous

Given than the actual model that has around 310 miles or range costs over 100k-125k, I am not so sure if “Ability to transport anywhere at any given time” really applies to an EV you have to charge. It in relation to plug-in hybrids or petrol vehicles, for EVs’ that seems quite the opposite.

In addition to “Gobs of instant torque” I am also sure that the vehicle has a pretty great ‘braking’ system as well. I’m just wondering where the ‘advertised‘ collision avoidance systems were, or if that’s the stuff they don’t tell you is only reserved for the top of the line model.

    • Ary Wisesa

NO, it’s not fair if he only jailed. He should be put in a car with all his body strapped on the driver seat, and one driver-less remote controlled to slam on him. If he doesn’t suffer brain damaged or at least spinal injury, the process should be repeated. That’s the best punishment for him. An eye for an eye. I don’t believe in this bullshit “rehabilitation” in jail. Sending him to jail will only make his head bigger and won’t teach him anything.

  • HaltestelleLuitpolthafen

Really glad that no one was killed. They are all super lucky…

  • Stigasawuswrecks

I seriously hope those people recover. It’s scary how the stupid act of one fool can change the lives of many for the worse forever. Dude deserves a nice long stay at the concrete and irons bars hotel for this one.

  • S3XY

The driver didn’t blame anything. You are the one saying dumb sh*t like that

  • S3XY

    What a dumb f**k

  • salamOOn

i would send him straight into prison….

  • Momogg

    That’s crazy. 😳

  • lagann

Looks like the Tesla hits the rear tires of the suv. If it was a straight collision to the side I don’t think anyone but the driver of the infinity would have come out alive.

The Tesla driver needs to be charged with attempted murder….because this essentially is what it is.

  • robotlogic

The driver of that Tesla is a FN idiot and needs to loose his license forever!!!!!

  • Harlan McCartney

    “Jose” not Hose….

  • Shobin Drogan

Are we all just gonna ignore the fact we just witnessed the fastest ambulance response time ever?!

  • TheHake

Damn. What does that Tesla weigh??? It just plowed on through!

    • alex.remsen

      Kinetic energy, my friend

      • TheHake

Exactly my point. Well actually the momentum is my point. Looking at the inertia, that Tesla must be very heavy to move like that after hitting a large SUV like an Infinity.

Let’s be clear that y’all are passing judgement on the idiot criminal driver of the Tesla…NOT the Tesla itself…right?
