Police Want Your Help Finding This Kia Minivan Driver Who Fled After Causing Audi To Flip

A shocking accident took place earlier this week in Sarasota, Florida, just outside The Lantern Inn and Suites,  on 7251 N. Tamiami Trail, when the driver of a 2003 Kia Sedona minivan turned left directly into the path of a 2018 four-door Audi A3.

The collision caused the German sedan to flip multiple times into a hotel parking lot, leaving its driver, 19-year old Jackson Kelley, critically injured. Now, authorities are asking for the public’s help in identifying the driver of the minivan, who then immediately fled the scene.

“It sounded like a big bomb went off”

Despite Kelley attempting to avoid the minivan, the latter still clipped the driver’s side of the Audi, causing it to go airborne and flip over violently multiple times.

“It sounded like a big bomb went off,” said Don Fuchs, who was staying in the hotel at that time. “I wanted to make sure he was all right, get him out of there before it caught fire or anything.”

According to Fox 13 News, Kelley was unconscious and already partially ejected from his Audi, which hit two other parked cars before coming to a halt. He was then taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital in critical condition.

“We have a lot of children who come, who stay here on the weekends,” said Linda Voss, a hotel employee. “The parking lot could be crowded with kids. Luckily it happened early enough where there was no one out there.”

After the crash, the Kia minivan took off traveling north on U.S. 41. Hopefully authorities will track the driver down sooner rather than later. If you happen to know anything about the driver or the crash, you can contact Florida Highway Patrol at 941-751-8350 or Crime Stoppers at 866-634-TIPS.

The genuine concern of the older gentleman is great.

    • brn

Yes. His only thought appeared to be “I must help this person right now”. Nice to see.

  • TrevP

He is only 19! And in critical condition. The Sedona driver needs to be caught and jailed!

    • Adilos Nave

You know, starting to think even the threat of incarceration to people this filthy isn’t enough. No, we need to use real punishment liking cutting off limbs or jamming toothpicks under their toenails. To drive away from a severe accident that was entirely your fault instantly means you are a terrible, terrible person that shouldn’t be allowed to breath. Jailing them won’t change who they are.

      • ChrisInIL

This will work only if we couple your suggestions with vigilantism.

  • Adilos Nave

Hope their conscience eats away at them like flesh-eating bacteria.

    • Stephen G

Anybody that drives away has no conscience.

      Directly in the title:
“Police Want Your Help Finding This Kia Minivan Driver Who Fled After Causing Audi To Flip”

Sure sounds like it has something to do with cars to me. Sure sounds like you still have zero reading comprehension.

      • LeStori

It is a police notice. Unfortunately where the collision ocurred is hidden in the article. This makes the video more voyeurism than helping Police.

      Lol…

  • TheToadPrince..~~ToadSquad

the dude couldve even stopped half way and avoided him but decided to continue his turn…this is right here ladies and gentlemen the perfext example of ignorance on the road…just dun giva F

  • Stephen G

The key in these situations is to take out the guy responsible for the crash, not avoid him. BYW is the Audi guy going kinda fast?

  • Bob

So the devil drives a Sedona…

    • brn

      Not surprising.

  • LJ

Not to paint with a broad brush, but I’ve had several friends/relatives that were victims of hit and runs and every time it was an illegal alien (without insurance, obviously).

    • My son was hit from behind few weeks ago. memorized the license plate. Cop arrived and all three of us hunted down the car and found the driver

      • Bill Nguyen

So did you kill him or what? I want details!

    • performante

See the story update. How dumb do you feel? GTFO with your racist dog whistle.

      • LJ

What was racist about my comment?

  • LeStori

Unfortunately the Audi driver showed their inexperience. Not slowing when it appeared a vehicle might turn across their path and going with the turning driver rather than going behind, and/or braking to reduce the impact. Dreadful collision.

    • Adilos Nave

Oh get out of here, Mr. Armchair Quarterback. Yeah, I’m so sure you, the most experienced and best driver on earth, could have easily avoided the collision shown above, all without missing a beat.

      • brn

It’s easy to watch from afar, perhaps a few times, take time to think about what could have been done, and then judge others.

      • Liam Paul

he made some good points, I don’t think he is suggesting he is the most experienced driver but he made good points , like you see a car turn in front of you, u slam on your breaks , I dont think the audi driver saw the car turn though till it was too late cause the audi was going way too fast IMO

    • Alx

Yup, let’s blame the victim… *slow clap

      • Harlan McCartney

        It’s called defensive driving….

    • Liam Paul

I got to agree, I too thought the audi was going way too fast, for the road conditions being it seem like rush hour and what the audi should had done was turn left away from the direction the minivan was going in. When the Audi hit the minivan, it than hit that curb that made it flip. The Minivan driver should had stayed because while it turning left in front of the audi was wrong, he or she would had been better off with out a ticker for leaving the scene of a accident, esp where someone was hurt badly, no matter who we think is at fault, the minivan driver should had stayed and did what he could had done to help, that is what is making the minivan the bad guy imo

  • LJ

This will be my new profile.

  • Don’t swerve. Brake as hard as you can in a straight line.

  • atomicbri

I know this area where it happened. Living in Florida, it is the only state I’ve ever lived in where people will just make u-turns anywhere, like this Sedona did. Drivers down here are the WORST! They don’t watch, they drive too slow, they speed when they shouldn’t and make crazy u-turns like this one. I hope they find the Sedona driver.

  • Bo Hanan

Knew it was Florida before I read the story.

  • Harlan McCartney

    He is a cave man…

    • EL CHAPO THA GREAT

      Like yourself, right. LOL

  • dumblikeyou2

Bad drivers, but HOT newscasters, Florida.

  • ejd1984

BRADENTON, FL — Florida Highway Patrol has recovered the suspected hit-and-run vehicle in Thursday’s horrific crash that sent an Audi rolling across a hotel parking lot and its 19-year-old driver fighting for his life.

“Troopers have impounded the suspected hit-and run-vehicle, a 2003 Kia Sorrento,” Lt. Gregory S. Bueno of Florida Highway Patrol told Patch Friday night.

    • Eythan Aldrich

      what source is from?

  • brn

Not sure he was going to fast. Huge following distance. Probably a case of not paying attention.

And no, I missed it. Glad you pointed it out.

  • EL CHAPO THA GREAT

    Says the moron

Keep on upvoting yourself, it proves my point.

Other people saw it when it was live, kid. I’m sure there’s some crawler that took a picture of it as well.

      • EL CHAPO THA GREAT

Nah, just your obsessed stalking self made an edit of that screenshot. You’re such a good liar. It proves how everyone else is with that fake screencap. Also, i know that piss you off when someone upvotes for me. ??????
