When Mercedes-AMG introduced the GT 4-Door Coupe last year, it did more than just replacing the range-topping CLS in its line up.

A true supercar for the entire family, the 630 HP GT 63 S one-ups the (discontinued) AMG CLS 63 with extra everything: power, handling, comfort, technology features – you name it, and it’s got it.

We’ve already seen the GT 63 S unleashed on a number of different occasions, but the video that we came across recently is worth viewing. The driver accelerated the heck out of the car on a no speed limit section of a German highway, with the Launch Control function engaged. He filmed everything from his perspective, and the experience is sprinkled with a lot of vibrations transmitted from the road to the wheels, steering wheel and, inadvertently, the camera.

The speedometer eventually indicates almost 290 km/h (180 mph) in sixth gear. Under heavy acceleration, the AMG GT 63 S 4-Door Coupe (that name doesn’t seem to be getting shorter with time) will do 315 km/h (195 mph). We’ve yet to see it go that fast, but we did get a chance to look at it while it was doing 305 km/h (190 mph).

If seeing cars travel fast is something you enjoy, then we’ll leave this link here. It shows one of the hypercar kings, the Bugatti Chiron, hitting 420 km/h (261 mph) at the Johnny Bohmer Proving Grounds in Florida, using the entire 4.3 km (2.7 miles) of straight line.
