Bentley Teases 2020 Flying Spur And Its Retractable Hood Ornament

Bentley has released the first images of the upcoming new Flying Spur and a short video showcasing its retractable hood ornament.

The new Flying Spur will ride on the same MSB platform with the Continental GT and Porsche Panamera, but it’s expected to be more than just the four-door version of the British coupe. In fact, Bentley aims to give the Flying Spur its own visual character, with unique exterior design details.

The brand’s new luxury sedan will be offered with at least three powertrain options, including the range-topping 6.0-liter W12, the mid-range 4.0-liter V8 and a plug-in hybrid 2.9-liter V6 that will play a crucial role in tax-sensitive markets like China. A Speed derivative of the W12-powered Flying Spur is reportedly also on the cards.

The new Flying Spur will rival models like the Rolls Royce Ghost and high-end versions of the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class. We still don’t know if the cabin of the new Bentley sedan will be the same with the Continental GT, but even if it is, we presume that no one will complain.

With a design that’s expected to look more exclusive and premium, and an endless list of options, the new Flying Spur is expected to make things a little more difficult for its rivals when it arrives in the market later this year or in early 2020.

Bentley is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year and will host a special event in July for the occasion, which sounds like the perfect opportunity for the new Flying Spur to come out and meet the world.

Bentley has been a Rolls-wannabe sice the 30s

    • McFly

Or rather: Rolls wanted Bentley to be Rolls since the 30s. 🙂
Actually, I think Bentley is all that is left of the actual Rolls-Royce Motors company of old.

BMW only got a license to use the trademarks.

You want to be driven in a Rolls-Royce but in a Bentley, you want to drive it. That’s the difference.

      • PK

        so pretty much.
rolls royce is like mercedes benz cause you want to be driven in.
bentley is like bmw cause you want to drive it.
it’s ironic thing to say cause bmw owns rolls.

The new Bentley Flying Spur will be the best 12 cylinder luxury limousine on the market !
With the Porsche Panamera’s lighter and sportier MSB platform, the latest 635 PS W12 engine combined with Porsche’s 8 speed PDK gearbox, with the Continental’s interior and finally, a proper retractable Flying B.
Audi A8 L W12 : already presented but never came to sale
BMW M760Li : became less powerful since the facelift, too heavy and a ZF gearbox only
    Mercedes AMG S65 : gone
Mercedes Maybach S650 : when you spec it, it’s the same paint colors, leathers and wood finishes options as a S350 diesel and the two-tone paint isn’t adapted to the car’s design at all and we’re all tired of that same old V12 combined with the same old gearbox nothing modern, nothing new Mercedes has completely abandoned the V12’s development.
Rolls-Royce Ghost : the only true rival of the Bentley Flying Spur but again it’s a Rolls-Royce so maybe a little be more refined but also less driving pleasure than the Bentley with its RWD and ZF gearbox configuration.
