Kia Driver Inadvertently Uses A Camaro As Launching Ramp

Unless you’re experiencing a medical emergency, there’s literally no excuse for having this low of an awareness level where you merge onto the freeway and immediately hit the car in front.

Alas, that’s exactly what happened to the driver of what appears to be a second-generation Kia Rio sedan, seen here trying to squeeze in-between the motorcycle rider and a black Chevrolet Camaro. That’s when things took a turn for the worse.

Wrong place, wrong time

Not only was this an ill-inspired move by the Kia driver, but he also happened to hit the Camaro directly in its left rear wheel, which caused the small sedan to jump upwards and flip over onto its roof before coming to a rest on all fours next to the concrete barrier.

We can only hope that nobody was seriously injured in this crash, which we assume was the case since the impact wasn’t exactly a high-speed one – although if the Kia driver wasn’t wearing a seat belt, well, that’s a whole different scenario. Also, we can see afterwards that airbag deployment was successful, which is always a good sign.

As for the rider who captured everything on his helmet-mounted Go Pro camera, he thought that he was going to get thrown off his bike at first (as per the description of the video), not knowing what type of aftermath expect. Luckily, nothing else happened and he was able to maneuver past the Camaro and safely get by the crash site.

That idiot in the Kia needs to have a duel instruction driving school mandate added to their punishment.
Tickets to be had here are: Disregarding traffic lane markings, speeding an Failure to control vehicle.
I’m sure their are some registration and insurance issues with that car too.

    • Ronald Roman

“Duel”, “an Failure” and “their are”? How about a grammar mandate?

He’s speaking bot. Stop robot shaming, k?

A little hesitation at the launch, but she sticks the landing! I give it a 9.5.

It was like in “CHiPs”…You’re welcome!

For what it looks like from the video, the KIA Rio driver picked up speed as it merged left from the merging intersection lane, and, as a result, rear-ended the slower moving Chevrolet Camaro. I think the anxious driver should have followed the slower moving vehicles at a safe distance than to be in a rush just to cause an accident and side clipping another motorist. With that said, I wonder did Onstar immediately detected that crash in that Camaro, if activated. Hmm ….

I’m kind of impressed that next to nothing happened to the Camaro, and that Kia is probably totaled after rolling over.

The Kia driver needs to pay more attention to what is going on and actively be engaged in driving. This nonsense of being in the process of changing into traffic lanes before you’ve even left the on ramp is risky. Note as well the motorcycle having the traffic cam illegally passing between cars in between the two lanes as well.

    • badcyclist

      You misspelled “legally.”

      • Paul

What he was doing going up between the cars on the lane divider was pretty much illegal and a good way to get ones self killed.

      • TRB0T0Y

Depends- if it was in CA or a state that condones such tomfoolery, that may be legal. But in most states, that is 100% illegal and dimwitted to try. Drivers are unlikely to anticipate a motorcycle wedging through traffic and it could get unpleasant.

  • BlackPegasus

The Kia driver should be pulled from the car and beaten with a loaf of harden french bread.

When merging onto the freeway, never cross the island. Not that one gets into an accident, but also a very hefty ticket in southern California.

  • FunctionForm

That’s not real. They were just filming an upcoming CHiPs reunion.

  • Watchful Fox

Not sure why a fender bender on a busy freeway is newsworthy. Must be a slow news day.

    • TRB0T0Y

      Are you not entertained!?
It surely was quite a spectacle. Also informative in a way – It is rather startling to be reminded of how easily a tire touch can flip a car.
