We often show you footage of crashes that end with somebody flipping their car over, usually because of irresponsible driving or a complete lack of road awareness.

There are, however, other instances where these flips occur simply by chance. It starts with a common type of impact, yet the car’s momentum is carried in such a way that it gets propelled upwards – it’s been known to happen for a multitude of reasons.

Take for example this VW Golf getting overturned by a Jeep, or even this Ford SUV flipping on its side while attempting to damage a BMW. Of course, both of those incidents started off as road rage, whereas this one seems very different.

The driver of the white sedan didn’t even try to brake before the impact, which means that he or she was either looking in the wrong direction, or perhaps they were asleep, hammered or ill – the video’s description doesn’t help at all.

Whatever the case may be, instead of a “simple” hit from behind, the two vehicles met wheel to wheel (front left to rear right), which apparently was enough to send what looked like an old Chevy Cruze into a spiral, from which it eventually landed on its roof.

Hopefully occupants of both vehicles were wearing their seat belts, all the safety systems worked as advertised and no one was seriously injured – or worse…
