Who Knew Californian Drivers Could Be This Bad?

Ah, California. The U.S. state is blessed to have beautiful weather for most of the year but in Los Angeles, is crippled by absolutely terrible traffic. As it turns out, California is also home to some rather erratic drivers.

The following dashcam footage was shared on YouTube a few days ago and shows a handful of drivers getting into trouble when traveling down a perfectly straight stretch of highway near the small city of Riverside, about 55 miles (88 km) outside of Los Angeles.

The clip starts out by showing a silver Lexus and dark blue Chevrolet both pass the car with the dashcam. The driver of the Lexus then suddenly changes lanes and almost slams into the Chevrolet sedan. At the same time, a Nissan SUV further up the road pulls into the middle lane at the same time as the Lexus driver, resulting in a very near miss for all three drivers.

While you may think that was that, a silver Nissan 350Z soon comes into picture….sideways. We have no idea how the Nissan driver managed to lose control of the sports car on a highway like this but he slides out of control directly in front of the cammer and careens off to the side of the highway. The video doesn’t show the damage sustained to the 350Z and whether or not it collected any other vehicles as it slid out of control. Whatever happened next, it probably wasn’t pretty.

Seems the 350Z was probably following too close behind the cammer and attempted to swerve around them when they slowed because of the foolishness going on in front of the cammer. And because RWD, lost control and wasn’t able to correct it. That’s the only explanation I can think of to make sense of this…
