Following last month’s debut of the facelifted Sandero and Logan models for South America, it is now time for the Sandero RS to receive a revamp.

It’s the first major makeover since the budget hot hatch launched in 2015 and the changes are mostly restricted to design changes.

For the 2020 model year, the Sandero RS gains new LED taillights, new 17-inch black diamond wheels, new Renault Sport side decals and red brake calipers inherited from the Racing Spirit limited edition.

Other distinctive exterior features, such as the F1-style blade, black roof spoiler, and dual exhaust, remain unchanged. The interior also sources features from the Sandero RS Racing Spirit, including the black headliner and red double-lined seats. In addition, the door cards feature a fabric in a carbon fiber look.

The only one option available is the metallic paint, in Fire Red, Étoile Silver or Nacré Black, as the Sandero RS comes with a white paint as standard.

Nothing changes from a mechanical standpoint, as the 2020 Sandero RS features the same naturally aspirated 2.0-liter engine that delivers 150 PS (148 hp) and 205 Nm (151 lb-ft) of torque when fueled with ethanol and 145 PS (143 hp) and 201 Nm (148 lb-ft) on gasoline.

Equipped with a short-ratio, six-speed manual transmission, the Sandero RS accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 8.0 seconds and reach a top speed of 202 km/h (126 mph). The Renault Sport-tuned suspension, electro-hydraulic steering and four-wheel disc braking system remain the same as well.

Standard gear includes the RS Drive system with three driving modes (Standard, Sport and Sport+), hill start assist, electronic stability, traction control, Media Nav Evolution infotainment system, automatic air conditioning, rear view camera, power-adjustable mirrors, power windows, and cruise control with speed limiter. Prices start from R$69,690 (approximately $17,710) in Brazil.
