Atlantis Blue Might Just Be The Best Color In BMW’s Palette

The BMW Individual program gives owners the opportunity to spec out their brand new cars with all types of bright colors and shades. The color adorning this M760Li xDrive recently delivered in Abu Dhabi could be our absolute favorite.

It is called Atlantis Blue, and while this isn’t the BMW, or even the first 7-Series, we’ve seen in this shimmering shade of blue, we still think it looks absolutely fantastic.

Perhaps as a way to ensure the bright color gets all the attention, the owner of this 7-Series decided to have all the standard chrome painted finished in gloss black, including the gargantuan front grille. The grille surround is also made from carbon fiber as are a number of other parts across the car’s exterior.

We aren’t particularly big fans of how the front of the latest 7-Series looks but the combination of Atlantis Blue and gloss black does make the styling choices of BMW’s design department somewhat more pleasing to the eye.

Whatever its paint, the M760Li xDrive is a pretty remarkable car. It is powered by a 6.6-liter twin-turbo V12 that delivers 577 HP and 627 lb-ft (850 Nm) of torque to all four wheels. Those figures are slightly down on the previous M760Li due to the latest emissions regulations, but the luxury sedan can still hit 100 km/h (62 mph) in a blistering, for such a huge car, 3.8 seconds and tops out at 305 km/h (189 mph).

In my eyes it manages to look stupid, old and ugly at the same time which is quite impressive.

Not a far cry from TEAL, the rage in circa 1994.

Someone smack the person in charge of the grille design.

Smack BMW’s clientele for wanting enormous grilles.

      • sidewaysspin

Chinese and Arabs, no European would want that.

  • Dennis James

No color on Earth can compensate for that hideous grille.

    • XtremWize

I think that the big imposing grill is precisely is the only good looking thing on this BMW.

      • James Denz

        Being sarcastic I’m sure.

        • XtremWize

No I’am not … I truly like that big grille.

    • Adam

I agree. It’s very cartoonish and makes the car look cheap. I’ve seen it in the metal too and it still looks hideous. It’s like someone photoshopped a stupid big grille on the car.

I would say the worst colour.

Meanwhile in the premium segment :

” The battle in the luxury segment in the US is heating up even more as we’re getting closer to 2020. The crown is still over at BMW right now YTD, but things are definitely too close to call. For example, Lexus won the sales battle last month, beating both BMW and Mercedes-Benz in the process. The Japanese luxury car maker managed to do so for the second time this year, after beating its German rivals in July as well.

Year-to-date, BMW is still leading with 204,960 units delivered. That’s an increase of 2.9 percent overall. Mercedes-Benz is coming in second, with a total of 196,779 units so far, a decrease of 1.2 percent. Meanwhile, Lexus is up by 0.9 percent so far this year, with a grand total of 190,691 units. “

    Otherwise knows as turquoise.

Amazing colour but you would be bullied in the real world.

  • Mike Gonzalez

that looks terrible and childish… specially in a car like the 7-series… maybe in a Series 1 or Series 4… you can get away with it

  • “the owner of this decided to have all the standard chrome painted finished in gloss black”

Should have gone with hot pink.

That grill is hideous as well as that interior
