Audi To Offer 30 Electrified Models By 2025, Including 20 EVs

It’s no secret that Audi is working on an assortment of new electric vehicles, but the company has confirmed plans to offer 30 electrified models by 2025.

A vast majority of them will be fully electric as Audi says EVs have “the best carbon footprint of all drive systems in the largest markets over its entire service life.” As a result, the company will offer 20 electric vehicles by 2025 including the e-tron which was launched earlier this year.

It will be followed by the e-tron Sportback which will be unveiled at the Los Angeles Auto Show on November 19th. Next year, the company will introduce the production versions of the e-tron GT and Q4 e-tron concepts.

While Audi is pouring a lot of funds into the development of electric vehicles, the automaker confirmed they’ll continue to develop conventional engines with a “focus on universal mild hybridization and the 48-volt electrical system.” The company will also launch an assortment of plug-in hybrids as the brand calls them an “essential element” of their electrification plans.

If everything works out, electrified vehicles will account for 40 percent of total sales by 2025. That’s a significant change from today, but the company clearly believes electrification is the future.

Audi vehicles won’t be the only thing going green. As part of today’s announcement, the company revealed they aim to be “climate-neutral” by 2050. As part of this effort, the automaker is focusing on a variety of efforts including the increased use of recycled materials and renewable energy.

Speaking of the latter, Audi will build the largest solar roof system in Europe on two of their logistics centers in Hungary. Audi says the roof will cover an area of approximately 1.7 million square feet (160,000 square meters) and generate more than 9.5 gigawatt hours of energy annually. The company says this is enough to power roughly 5,000 households.

Wow! to that top etron picture.

    • Zandit75

Yep, one of the best designs to come out of Audi. I hope the production model doesn’t lose too much of the styling.

    • SteersUright

Agreed. Absolutely gorgeous. The only part, as an enthusiast, that I often worry about is how good can an electric possibly sound? A proper, high-revving ICE gives me goosebumps when its at max rpm. Guess its time to test drive a Tesla, lol.

  • Alduin

Whats with this push towards electrification now all of a sudden? Because Tesla? Tesla will be out of business soon.

    • Dude

Where have you been for the past 5 years? The push isn’t really new and ppl predict that tesla will go bankrupt every year so that’s old too

    • SteersUright

lol. Welcome to the world. You clearly just got here.

      • Alduin

I don’t think we should be forced into EV’s at all.

    • JqC

In the US, my dear little new-to-the-real-world Alduin, the Model 3 by Tesla has consistently outsold the BMW 3, Audi A4 and Merc C-class. Combined. Is it your grand plan that Audi should ignore the fact that in the segment of buyers wanting a mid-sized sedan, the buyers are choosing a software-dominant, high-performing EV model? Is there some reason that you have you an irrational predilection to fossil fuels to the point that you resent the existence of an alternative that is actually proving to be better? Who are you people? If someone was asking you to buy an EV that performed worse than the ICE variant, I might understand your vitriol. But to be upset that there are EV alternatives that are superior to ICE vehicles strikes me as completely irrational.

      • Alduin

No EV will ever be better or as good as an ICE car.

        • JqC

I’m on to you, buddy. Not falling for it.

          • Alduin

Oh so scary. Have a nice cup of STFU.

          • JqC

Lmao. Calm down, man. I like you.

    • man

Many countries in Europe and Asia are trying to become full EV by 2035 to limit their CO2 emissions.

      • Alduin

Thats stupid. China and India should kill off half their population since they are the two of the biggest polluters of the world.

  • B.Stokes

The VW group will be best positioned to make EV’s because of there ability to capitalize on economies of scale between all of the brands they own.

That e-tron sportback is gorgeous. Can’t wait for its official release.

    • JqC

Of the legacy automakers… yes. This does not pertain to comparisons with an EV-only automaker like BYD or Tesla.

  • SteersUright

That is one gorgeous concept in the main pic.

  • Alduin

Henrik Fisker is an idiot and he owes tax payers alot of money for his failed projects.

  • Alduin

No but thats what environmentalists want everyone to do.

    • JqC

Maybe. But if they do, it’s because they want you to have clean air to breathe, clean water to drink, and an enjoyable habitat with a diverse ecosystem. If you wish to have the ‘freedom’ to have otherwise, more power to you, bud. I for one would prefer to enjoy going outside and, you know, continuing to exist. Idiot.

      • Alduin

You’re an idiot. Batteries are toxic to the environment. Hydrogen Fuel cell is the next big thing. Soon EV’s will be a thing of the past.

    • Rimas Kurtinaitis

      • Alduin

You sound like a Communist. Throw your dumba$$ out of the country.

        • Rimas Kurtinaitis

Seppos always thinking the world’s population lives only in America.
I wouldn’t want to live in such a backwards country.
Also, what is with americans and an obsession with communism? Is this the McCarthy era all over again?

          • Alduin

            You’re a backwards person.

  • i’m guessing that includes hybrids, but didn’t VW dissuade hybrids in favor of pure EVs?
