2021 Ford ‘Baby’ Bronco Won’t Look Like A ‘Baby’ Defender, But It’s Amusing All The Same

Ford is getting ready to tap into the small 4×4 segment with the so-called ‘baby Bronco’. Poised to take on the Jeep Renegade and its like, it will be positioned as a smaller alternative to the full-blown Bronco, retaining the boxy styling that continues to be hidden beneath camouflage in scooped prototypes.

Nonetheless, Kleber Silva gave it a shot at imagining how it could look like once the wraps come off. Or that’s the narrative but who are kidding; this is what it could look if Ford Still owned Land Rover and they developed it alongside the new Defender, being that it’s pretty clear that the photoshop artist Bronco-ed up pictures of the former.

The rendered vehicle sports large ‘Ford’ lettering in the front grille that is flanked by square-shaped headlights inspired by the F-150 truck. Prominent wheel arches contribute to its stance, as do the plastic add-ons on the lower parts of the body, tailgate design inspired by the Land Rover Discovery Sport, ‘Bronco’ lettering and rear skid plate.

And while the true styling of the small SUV is a well-kept secret in Dearborn, we know that it’s based on the same platform as the latest Escape. This tells us that some engine options should carry over, with a 1.5-liter, three-cylinder EcoBoost rated at 180 horses, believed to be one of them. The 2.0-liter EcoBoost that produces 250 hp, will probably be on the list as well. Hybrid and/or electric options won’t be offered anytime soon, according to the rumor mill.

Aside from the SUV body style, the baby Bronco has been imagined as a pickup truck, too, with an open bed behind the rear seats and a few other design upgrades, inspired by the Ranger Raptor. As you can see, the body of this render is based on the F series truck and not the Defender. While this proposal sounds enticing, =we wouldn’t get our hopes too high, as a pickup variant seems like a long stretch.

Honestly, I am tired of all these Bronco and Baby Bronco renders. Just wait to show us the real things, please.

EDIT: Also, these renders are awful. Land Rover Discovery with a Ford face? Really?

  • David Lee

    who made these? they’re atrocious!

    • db

      Weekend fillers David.

  • thejohnnycanuck

Who wants to compete with the Renegade? It’s the worst Jeep there is.

Then again maybe that’s why they’re doing it, easy pickins.

    • no25

definitely the latter. for some reason the renegade sells, but i agree – it’s the worst jeep. don’t know why people buy it, but probably because there isn’t much competition.

  • Mr. EP9

    Ew.

  • Bash

These are some crazy $hit ugly renders up there.

I think a more appropriate inspiration, at least as far as the greenhouse, is the upcoming Chevy Trailblazer. Very upright. Or maybe even the Venue, rugged-up. Obviously the Wrangler. But not the Defender.
Bronco Scout? Adventurer? Who knows what it’ll be called. It had better not have the 3-Turbo that Ford is trying to pull one off of with the new Escape (at ridiculously higher prices). Pee-U.

By far, the best looking Defender

  • Lloyd Anthony D Peters

I spit my damn coffee out when I saw this. Lol.

  • marioGTI

It won’t look like that, LOL!

  • Kyle Newberry

I really like that pickup render

  • FordMopar

Pure nastiness! These renderings look like a middle schooler was trying out the photoshopping program in the bedroom!

  • Zandit75

I don’t mind the pickup, but call it what it really is, a re-styled F150, not a try-hard Bronco.
I’ll just forget about the other thing.

  • Wandering_Spirit

Eh no. A Defender is a Defender and a Bronco is a Bronco. That is a Rover model with a Ford front grille and the headlights of other Ford trucks in the F150 family. Please, spare us from another pile of design manure.

  • TheAmerican2point0

    wtf are these photos

  • Alduin

Awful renderings. Iacoski designs does a way better job as does topspeed and several others.

  • Craig

I think you can confuse people to the point where they simply buy something else – somewhere else.

  • Kevin Kalin

The baby raptor rendering are not based on the F Series, that is the Explorer Sport Trac Adrenaline with a Raptor grill awkwardly slapped on the front

  • Stampede.Offroad

You say “Poised to take on the Jeep Renegade and its like, it will be positioned as a smaller alternative to the full-blown Bronco” but the reality is that the “baby”-Bronco is going to be just as long as the 4-door Bronco and possibly wider, as is the Escape. Only in height is the Bronco going to have greater dimensions. And the Jeep model it is most similar in size to is the Cherokee.

“baby” is an ignorant and misleading nickname.

Looks great! Hope Ford is taking notes!
