Honda Civic Brake Checks Hummer H2 And (Duh!) Instantly Regrets It

No need to explain why brake checking is both pointless and irresponsible, only serving to put you and other drivers in extreme danger if something goes wrong.

Some, though, would argue that it’s not pointless and quite the contrary – they’re trying to make a point by forcing another motorist to suddenly slow their vehicle as if to say “I’m mad at you, and here’s me teaching you a lesson”. In reality though, that’s totally immature and not much of an argument.

Alas, the driver of this blue Honda Civic Sedan failed to keep their emotions in check and undertook the dashcam equipped semi truck only to cut off a grey Hummer H2 before applying the brakes hard. Unfortunately for him, the driver of the Hummer either couldn’t or didn’t want to “play”, and smacked the Honda around a bit before seemingly coming to a halt – that’s when the semi drives past the scene of the crash.

According to the description of the video, the driver of the semi wanted to pull over but “there was a lot of traffic behind me to those concerned.” The video ultimately made it into the hands of the authorities, but as for what led up to the incident in the first place, our guess is as good as yours.

It’s likely that the two drivers had some type of disagreement prior to overtaking the semi. It’s either that or the driver of the Honda was simply too outraged by the thought of somebody driving such an obvious gas-guzzler like the Hummer H2.

In all seriousness though, it was an irresponsible gesture and the blue Civic paid the price for it.

Hoping they got both what they deserved. What absolutes morons risking lives because they can’t handle emotions.

People caught break checking in any form should loose driving privileges for 6 months +. No matter what home state or traveling into/out of.

While I don’t condone brake-checking, I also feel anyone that rides my rear bumper like their being chased by the devil himself deserves a asswhooping like theirs no tomorrow. If I didn’t care about my car and causing an accident that could affect others, I’d be brake-checking left and right (LA drivers couldn’t drive to save their life).

      • Loquacious Borborygmus

Just slow down gradually. It frustrates the hell out of the neanderthals.

        • Jason Miller

This is what I do. A couple quick taps of the pedal to flash the brake lights and then a gradual slow down. Arizona drivers are terrible for riding your rear like their life depends on it.

          • Loquacious Borborygmus

Don’t brake it only leads to one thing.
Slowing without braking is more fun as the dullards eventually cotton on to the fact that you are trying to get them to back off.

          • FFEMT6

If your headlights are off, simply turn them on, when the taillights come on, the tailgater panics, thinking your braking. No reduction of speed necessary. Of course, that only works during daylight hrs.

        • Emoto

Yeah, just take your foot off the gas. LOL.

      • Aelwyn

Maybe it depends on where you are, but in my state at least, brake-checking is illegal. I found this out because my MOTHER did it to a dude who was tailgating her. He didn’t run into her, but he passed angrily and clipped the front corner of her car when he moved back into her lane. When the cop arrived, he ended up ticketing them BOTH because my mother admitted she’d brake-checked him. In the end, SHE had to take some sort of one-day course on anger management for drivers.

I have to admit, I found that last part sort of funny… but I was honestly surprised brake-checking was in fact illegal here. So I guess the gradual slow-down response is probably the safest and most effective means of dealing with jerks.

I don’t think it was his/her driving privileges that (s)he “lost”, more like the contents of his/her bowels!

With the inevitable lingering aroma that would last for about six months also.

Seeing the New York plate on the Honda speaks volumes. Self entitled, narcissistic a-hole.

    • TheBelltower

Considering we hardly ever see NY stories, and commonly see Florida, Texas and New Jersey, there are plenty of narcissistic a-holes in every state.

I wonder what happened after they got out of their cars.

  • Bo Hanan

Yep! Pretty much. I don’t see a story here.

    Don’t you mean “You’re WRONG”?

  • rodriguez256

There’s plenty of room for the Honda to switch over a lane and let the faster traffic move along in the left lane. This annoys me to no end.

  • Wandering_Spirit

I haven’t been in Italy for a while. But in my region in Italy that behavior would have you stopped and beaten to a pulp (if not worse), insurance refusing to pay for any damage since you willingly caused it and the police (notoriously relaxed in Italy and not trigger or tazer happy), would get pissed for you having ruined their usual day of boring patrolling and coffees. In short, you’d be considered a sort of national dick for the rest of your life. Especially if you end up beaten once you get off that “iron horse” that for some reason makes humans think they are invincible, immortal and always right!

  • Paul

The Honda got what he deserved a mashed up car for playing such stupid games. I agree with others about just slowing dowm ore gradually and get them to go around you or else just move over and let them by.

  • ksegg

I saw a guy side swipe/ram into a guy in the far left lane on purpose causing a massive accident – just because the other guy was going really slow in the fast/passing lane.

People have some serious anger issues.
