Alabama Dealer Wants $167K For 182-Mile 2020 Toyota Supra

The sole variant of the 2020 Supra available right now in the U.S. market is the Launch Edition and has an MSRP of $56,205, according to Toyota. Yet, one dealer thinks he can shift a slightly used one for three times as much.

More specifically, Bill Penney Toyota in Huntsville, Alabama, has put up a white Supra with 182 miles on the clock with a “no haggle” price of $167,000. According to Car and Driver, who spoke with them, the car belongs to the dealership’s general manager and the sticker price is “due to Supra scarcity in the Southeast, as well as demand for the sports car from customers”.

Now, this is far from the first time that we’ve seen vendors trying to make a quick buck out of Toyota’s latest sports car. Back in August, a Florida dealer was asking nearly $200k for another Launch Edition, but ultimately had to settle for “just” $100k. Still a very nice profit, but not the exorbitant one he initially expected.

While the 2020 Supra has, indeed, been one of the most eagerly awaited new arrivals, mostly due to all the hype around its predecessor, the Mk IV, and is expected to be one of the most popular tuned cars at the upcoming SEMA show, it seems that it buyers are not willing to pay silly prices for one. Maybe it’s the BMW connection, which has being a hotly debated topic; maybe it’s the fact that it’s not wearing an exotic badge, or it could be that it’s a series-production model and buyers are willing to wait a bit longer rather than pay a heavy premium.

As stupid as it sounds, if it gets enough publicity, some crazy rich dude will go buy it just to be on the news. Rich people think differently.

Funny. This or a used Huracan. So hard to decide.

  • Mr. EP9

And he sad part is, someone is actually going to pay that much for it.

  • Merc1

Not even people in Alabama are dumb enough to pay 167K for a Supra.

  • Tumbi Mtika

It’s almost like the dealers are trying to sabotage the Supra launch.
