As the years continue to tick by and more and more vehicles become dominated by new technologies and advanced computers, old-school sports cars like the Honda S2000 become all the more desirable to driving enthusiasts.
The following S2000 is a 2000 model year and is currently up for sale on Bring A Trailer. With a highest bid of $12,500 at the time of writing and only one day left in the auction, it could tempt some people away from modern hot hatches and towards this piece of Honda history.
Not Cheap: Untitled And Unregistered Honda S2000 Could Be Yours For A Little Under $100,000
In the listing it’s revealed that the red S2000 has been owned by just one person from new. The chassis has just 26,000 miles (41,842 km) on it but, interestingly, the engine has covered just 4,000 miles (6,437 km). A commenter on the auction reveals that the original engine suffered from issues related to a spark plug recall back in the day.
The car’s owner reportedly never received notice of the recall and the issues were never resolved. Thus, in 2015, a spark plug failed causing a significant amount of damage to the engine. After being taken to a Honda dealership, it was determined that the damage was caused as a result of the issue related to the recall, and even though the car was out of warranty, Honda paid for all repairs, including a new engine block, rods, pistons, and crankshaft.
The paint is in reasonable condition for a vehicle of this age but does have a handful of small scuffs. Then again, assuming people don’t start a bidding war at the 11th hour, at around $13k, give or take, it is a quite tantalizing proposition…
