The Tesla Model 3 Performance is unlike any other car we have tested before.

Back in September, we spent an enjoyable weekend behind the wheel of this all-electric performance machine and walked away very impressed. It offers superb performance at a great price and is a very compelling package. Matt Farah from The Smoking Tire recently spent some time with a Model 3 Performance in California and also came away quite enamored by the car.

Beneath the skin of the Tesla Model 3 Performance sits a 75 kWh battery pack that’s paired to two electric motors to deliver a combined 450 hp and 472 lb-ft (640 Nm) of torque. Instantaneous torque and stunning levels of grip allow the car to hit 62 mph (100 km/h) in 3.4 seconds and when we drove it, it seemed to be just as quick off the line in the pouring rain as it was in the dry.

One of the most impressive things about the Tesla Model 3 Performance is the ‘Track Mode.’ If you’re feeling the need for speed, it can be switched on and the car reveals itself as quite a capable canyon carver that feels light on its toes and will dance its way through corners. Track Mode also does a superb job of hiding the vehicle’s weight and it really is a joy to drive.

In his review, Farah mentions that whenever he drives the Model 3 Performance, or any electric vehicle for that matter, he always arrives at his destination feeling relaxed. We experienced the same.
