Acura’s Hand-Built 2020 MDX PMC Edition Will Set You Back A Whopping $63,745

Acura has put a price tag on the MDX PMC Edition, the limited-run model hand-assembled at the Performance Manufacturing Center (PMC) in Marysville, Ohio by the same experts who build the NSX.

There no easy way of saying this, so here we go. The 2020 MDX PMC Edition arrives in Acura’s U.S. dealerships on February 1 with a starting MSRP of $63,745 (including $1,995 destination and handling).

This makes it $18,350 more expensive than a base 2020 Acura MDX, the obvious question is what do buyers get for that kind of money? Well, besides the exclusivity (only 330 individually numbered units will be made) and the fact that it’s (or at least some of the process is) hand assembled, the 2020 Acura MDX PMC Edition comes fully loaded since it combines the specification of the range-topping MDX Advance Package with the sporty looks of the MDX A-Spec.

Those two packages, by the way, cost $6,750 and $3,500 respectively on the regular MDX but cannot be combined on that model. The AWD system will also set you back another $2,000, so the difference isn’t as high as you may think.

The MDX PMC Edition will be easy to recognize on the street thanks to the exclusive Valencia Red Pearl paintwork shared with the NSX supercar. All 330 units (300 for the U.S. and 30 for Canada) will be finished in this paint that uses nano-pigment technology and is described as “the highest quality, most vibrant paint Acura offers on a production car.” It’d better be, since it costs $6,000 to have an NSX in this color.

Besides the paint, other exclusive exterior features of the limited-edition MDX include unique PMC Edition numbered serial plaque, dual 4-inch black chrome exhaust finishers, and several gloss-black elements. Those include the 20-inch wheels with black lug nuts, roof panel, roof antenna, mirror caps, door handles, and Diamond Pentagon grille with body color grille surround.

Exclusive interior features consist of black Milano leather seats with Alcantara inserts, black piping and red stitching, dimpled leather-wrapped steering wheel with red stitching, and metal-finished paddle shifters. Rounding out the cabin upgrades are the premium floor mats with metal A-Spec badging and red stitching on the door panels, center console, headrests and front center armrest.

Power comes from Acura’s 3.5-liter direct-injected i-VTEC V6 engine rated at 290 HP and 267 lb-ft (197 Nm) of torque. The engine is mated as standard to a 9-speed automatic transmission and torque-vectoring Super-Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD).
