Toyota Crown Executive Sedan Gains Three Special Editions For Its 65th Anniversary

Toyota has released three special edition versions of the Crown executive sedan in Japan to celebrate the nameplate’s 65th anniversary.

They’re called the Crown Limited, Crown Elegance Style II and Crown Sport Style. Based on the RS trim level, the Toyota Crown Limited brings exclusive 18-inch aluminum wheels with black coating and an upholstery combining fabric and synthetic leather. The special edition model also features a blind spot monitor, rear cross traffic auto brake and power front passenger seat.

Moving on to the Toyota Crown Elegance Style II, it comes with 18-inch ‘noise reduction’ alloys in a chrome metallic finish, plated door handles, and a choice of three interior colors: black, light grey and golden. The seats combine suede and synthetic leather while the center console is adorned with black wood trim. The same safety and convenience features of the Crown Limited are standard.

Toyota Crown S ‘Elegance Style II’

Previewed last year, the special edition Toyota Crown Sport Style brings black 18-inch ‘noise reduction’ alloys, smoked LED headlights and LED taillights, as well as a dark treatment for the grille, fog lamp rings, and rear license plate garnish.

The cabin is all black, offset by red stitching on the seats, dashboard, center console, door panels and floor mats when the optional leather seat package featuring genuine leather is selected. Otherwise, the seats are a combination of fabric and synthetic leather, with the door cards also lined with synthetic leather.

Toyota Crown S ‘Elegance Style II’

The three special edition Toyota Crown models offer the same engine choices. The base engine is a 2.0-liter turbo-four gasoline unit rated at 241 HP (245 PS) and 258 lb-ft (350 Nm) of torque, which drives the rear wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission. The other choice is a 2.5-liter hybrid with a combined output of 222 HP (226 PS), offered in both rear- and all-wheel drive configurations.

Prices start from 5,063,000 yen ($47,215) for the Crown Sport Style / Elegance Style II and 5,169,000 yen ($48,200) for the Crown Limited – all with the 2.0-liter turbo-four.

Besides these three special editions, the Toyota Crown’s T-Connect SD navigation system gains connectivity features like SmartDeviceLink, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Additionally, synthetic leather is used to decorate the door trim and instrument panel on RS trim levels.
