We’ve heard of armored high-end flagship sedans and SUVs, but a crossover with ballistic protection? Yep, say hello to the 2020 Cadillac XT6 from AddArmor, a company founded and run by Special Operations and law-enforcement veterans.

Specialized in turning pretty much every vehicle into a “mobile safe-room”, it has modified the 2020 XT6, fitting it with their anti-intrusion package that costs $28,000. This includes bullet-resistant windows, fortified doors and hatches, ballistic protection panels and run-flat tires that will ensure a safe getaway for up to 50 miles (80 km) after they are damaged.

“When people think of armored vehicles, most immediately think of large, cost-prohibitive SUVs. Our new AddArmor XT6 dispels that notion. This is the world’s safest Crossover Utility Vehicle (CUV) ever made”, said CEO and Special Operations veteran, Pete Blaber. “At AddArmor, we want to protect as many people as we can by delivering peace of mind out on the road. At $28,000, the AddArmor Anti-Intrusion package offers world class security at a superb price.”

Starting from $86,000, $28,905 more than the Sport trim level on which it is based, the armored 2020 XT6 has “minimal additional weight” and retains the 3.6-liter V6, which still pumps out 310 HP (314 PS / 231 kW) and 271 lb-ft (367 Nm) of torque. It also features a bunch of safety systems, including night vision, lane departure warning, blind spot warning, front pedestrian braking and so on, and can further be enhanced with other gear, be it from Cadillac or AddArmor.
