The Volkwagen ID.4 Starts At $44,995 CAD In Canada

Volkswagen Canada has unveiled official pricing and features for the 2021 ID.4. The lowest-priced model is the ID.4 Pro, which starts at $44,995 CAD ($35,660 USD).

Sales are set to start in the provinces of Quebec and British Columbia in the late summer, with Ontario following shortly thereafter. Depending on trim level, buyers are entitled to a federal rebate that ranges from $2,500 CAD to $5,000 CAD.

The ID.4 will arrive first with a single electric motor that puts out 201 hp and 229 lb-ft of torque and drives the rear wheels. Volkswagen promises 400 km (248 miles) of range thanks to its 82 kWh battery pack. A two-motor, AWD model making 300 hp is set to follow.

Canadians will be deprived of the “1st Edition” model, which includes white interior accents, a black painted roof, silver roof rails, 20-inch alloys, premium LED projector headlights, 1st Edition badging, and more. A VW spokesperson also says the white interior will not be available in the Canadian market.

Buyers hoping for much of the 1st Edition’s luxury can opt for the Statement package. It costs an extra $8,000 CAD ($6,340 USD) and gets you an illuminated VW logo, a panoramic fixed-glass roof, LED projector headlights, 20-inch wheels, power-folding side mirrors, a black roof, silver roof rails, and a 12-inch infotainment display (a 10-inch one is standard).

The package also gets you leatherette seating surfaces in black or grey, while only black cloth is available on the standard model. The Pro’s seats are powered, though they can only move six ways, while the Statement package gets you 12-way adjustastment.

To contend with cold Canadian winters a heated steering wheel, heated side mirrors, heated washer nozzles, and a heated windshield are standard. The systems are designed to reduce the vehicle’s reliance on the HVAC system to try and maximize range. The ID.4 will also be available with standard remote heating and cooling to let you get the cabin up to temperature before you unplug the car.

The battery can be fully charged in about seven and a half hours on a level 2 charger. It can also go from 5% to 80% charge in 38 minutes on a DC fast-charger.
