Hyundai Launches Configurator For 2022 Santa Cruz Pickup Truck

Hyundai introduced the highly anticipated Santa Cruz last month and now they’ve launched a configurator, which reveals a handful of new details about the pickup.

While pricing is sadly absent, the model will be available in four trims known as SE, SEL, SEL Premium and Limited.

The configurator doesn’t go into many specifics, but the entry-level Santa Cruz SE will come equipped with an 8-inch infotainment system featuring wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility. The model will also have lane keeping assist and forward collision-avoidance assist with pedestrian and cyclist detection.

Upgrading to the Santa Cruz SEL will reward buyers with a proximity key and a push button ignition. They’ll also find an eight-way power driver’s seat, heated front seats and blind-spot collision avoidance. Customers will also be able to purchase an Activity Package which adds “technology and storage solutions.” That’s pretty vague, but it presumably includes a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster.

The SEL Premium ups the ante as it comes with LED headlights and digital key technology. Buyers will also find a dual-zone automatic climate control system, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and an auto-dimming rearview mirror with HomeLink.

If you want luxury and practicality, you’ll want to check out the range-topping Santa Cruz Limited. It features a unique exterior with dark chrome accents and available 20-inch alloy wheels. Other niceties include heated / ventilated leather front seats, a heated steering wheel and a Bose premium audio system. Hyundai also throws in a blind-spot view monitor and a larger 10.25-inch infotainment system with GPS navigation.

The SE and SEL are powered by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that produces an estimated 190+ hp (142+ kW / 193+ PS) and 180+ lb-ft (244+ Nm) of torque. It’s connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission, which can be paired to an optional all-wheel drive system.

The Limited and SEL Premium are more powerful as they have a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder pumping out 275+ hp (205+ kW / 279+ PS) and 310+ lb-ft (420 Nm) of torque. It’s paired to an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, which can be operated by steering-wheel mounted paddle shifters.

The 2022 Hyundai Santa Cruz will go into production next month and deliveries are slated to begin this summer. While pricing remains a mystery, the automaker is accepting reservations for a refundable $100 deposit.
