The GMC Canyon AT4 OVRLANDX Off-Road Concept Shows How Extreme The Pickup Can Go

GMC today unveiled a new concept vehicle based on the GMC Canyon at the Overland Expo Mountain West 2021. The Canyon AT4 OVRLANDX concept features heavy-duty off-road capability for the adventurer in all of us.

Factory lifted with a wide off-road chassis, the Canyon features off-road rocker panel protectors, cast-iron control arms, a heavy-duty front bumper with a winch, integrated recovery points, wheel flares, and guy lines to protect the windshield.

It also features front and rear electronic locking differentials and Multimatic DSSV dampers to make it as capable as possible off the beaten path. Along with 33-inch BFGoodrich KM3 Mud-Terrain tires on 17-inch AEV Crestone wheels, the Canyon AT4 OVRLANDX gets a total of 10-inches of ground clearance and a 27.7-degree approach angle.

“The Canyon AT4 OVRLANDX concept truck was designed to balance functionality with aesthetics,” said John Owens, lead creative designer for the concept truck. “When you’re overlanding, capability is an important factor, but doing it with premium style and comfort elevates the experience even further for customers who truly want zero compromises.”

Powered by a 3.6-liter V6 engine mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission, the truck is capable of churning out 308 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque.

Rounding out the design are the AEV rear off-road bumper, the stainless steel truck bed cap, a roof-mounted tent for when you have to stop for the night, a 270-degree awning, Jerry cans for gas and water, traction boards, an off-road jack, a cooler, and even a kitchenette and solar panel.
