The Toyota Tacoma is a very capable pickup truck, so how can you make it even better? Well, you could do what this person did and replace its bed with an accessories cab that makes it the perfect overlanding rig.

This 2007 Tacoma was listed for sale on Cars & Bids, where it sold for a hefty $36,500. That might sound expensive for a 14-year-old pickup truck, but this Tacoma only had 36,407 miles (58,591 km) on its odometer. Additionally, it’s equipped with the six-speed manual transmission, which isn’t necessarily that uncommon for these trucks, but it is desirable.

Starting with the exterior, the front features an All-Pro bumper for added durability, clearance, and approach angles, and mounted to that bumper is a Superwinch winch. The truck also has tubular side steps, auxiliary lighting, and of course, the giant accessories cab in place of a bed. Comprising that cab is a 17-gallon auxiliary fuel tank, a 17-gallon water tank, a propane tank, a kitchen, a fridge, an awning, and a roof-mounted tent with a ladder to get in and out. Other accessories include a auxiliary battery, a battery isolator, a high-output air compressor, and an engine bay-mounted camp shower.

The interior remains stock with its grey cloth seating, but it does have some nice amenities like cruise control, air conditioning, power door mirrors, and a six-speaker sound system with a CD player. There are also a Midland 1001Z 40-channel CB radio and all the switches that control the aftermarket accessories, but other than that, it’s just a regular (albeit very well-kept) Tacoma.

Uner the hood is the stock 4.0-liter V6, which sends 236 hp (239 PS / 176 kW) and 266 lb-ft (361 Nm) of torque to the rear or all four wheels via a six-speed manual transmission and a two-speed transfer case. And seeing as that cab and all its accessories adds a significant amount of weight, the Tacoma received suspension and drivetrain enhancements in the form of air suspension, Old Man Emu Nitrocharger shocks, Emu Dakar leaf springs, and ARB front and rear air-powered differential lockers.
