Honda has announced that it will sell just 30 examples of the NSX Type S in Japan.

The 2022 NSX Type S was first presented with an Acura badge in early August. At the time, the Japanese automaker announced that worldwide production would be capped at just 350 units. It confirmed that 300 of these will be allocated to the U.S. and we now know that 30 are heading to the car’s home country, albeit with a Honda badge. It remains to be seen what markets will get the remaining 20 examples.

Japanese customers interested in picking up the keys to the limited edition supercar will need to part ways with 27.94 million yen, roughly the equivalent of $254,000 in the United States. That’s a lot of money as the NSX Type S is available in the U.S. for a more reasonable $169,500.

A plethora of modifications have been made to the NSX Type S to distinguish it from the standard model. For example, a number of styling and aerodynamic tweaks have been made, including the fitment of a more angular front bumper with larger intakes and an aggressive splitter. Elsewhere, Honda has equipped the car with a new rear spoiler and a more pronounced carbon fiber diffuser as well as unique forged wheels.

Like the regular NSX, the Type S features an aluminum alloy twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 with three electric motors. A number of changes have been made to this powertrain so it now delivers 600 hp and 492 lb-ft (667 Nm) of torque, up from the 573 hp and 476 lb-ft of the standard model.
