The first trailer for Transformer: Rise of the Beasts dropped today, and it revealed, among other things, that the movie will star a 964-generation Porsche 911.

The movie is being directed by Steven Caple Jr., who previously directed Creed II, as well as an episode of the Transformers: Earthspark television series. The human stars of the movie are Noah (played by Hamilton‘s Anthony Ramos), an ex-military gearhead, and Elena (played by Dominique Fishback, from Judah and the Black Messiah), who is a museum researcher.

They will be joined onscreen by a variety of (as you’d expect) transformers. The latest movie’s big twist, though, is that the it will feature the Maximals from the Transformers: Beast Wars TV series you may remember from your childhood, if you’re of a certain age. These include the groilla Optimus Primal (played by Hellboy‘s Ron Perlman) and the falcon Airazor (played by Everything Everywhere All at Once‘s Michelle Yeoh).

Fortunately, the Cybertronians you may remember from previous films who hide as regular cars are still around, making the studio money in product placement sales. Indeed, along with the Porsche 911, Bumblebee has become a Chevrolet Camaro again (and is apparently modified into a Camaro Dakar briefly), a VW microbus is featured (though it’s unclear if it transforms), and Optimus Prime is also around in semi truck form.

According to the studio, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts is a return “to the action and spectacle that have captured moviegoers around the world” and will “take audiences on a ‘90s globetrotting adventure and introduce the Maximals, Predacons, and Terrorcons to the existing battle on earth between Autobots and Decepticons.”

Deadline reports that the film will have some serious star power behind it. In addition to the rather impressive names listed above, it will also star Game of Thrones‘ Peter Dinklage as “Scourge,” SNL‘s Pete Davidson as “Mirage,” and Pose‘s Michaela Jaé Rodriguez as “Nightbird,” among others.

If that all sounds exciting to you, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts will premier on June 9, 2023.
