Ford has revealed more details relating to the 2024 Mustang Dark Horse’s design today including the first photos of the interior. Customers will be offered exclusive colors, interior trim details, and special striping packages to help show off just how different their Mustang is from the standard model.

“The sinister and track-hungry attitude of Mustang Dark Horse inspired us to curate colors and materials in a way that underscores the vehicle’s athleticism,” said Carrie Kennerly, Ford senior color and materials designer. “We spent extra time on the cockpit, ensuring the look, feel and function of everything a performance driver could want conveys the performance Mustang Dark Horse is capable of.”

On The Outside

The most notable design element will certainly be the new color-shifting Blue Ember exterior paint color. The tone was chosen to be “shadowy and sinister, but complex enough to force a double take on the street,” the automaker writes.

The dark blue metallic paint shade is pearlescent and features deep blue pigments in addition to warmer amber hues that makes the finish appear to change depending on the lighting conditions.

In addition, buyers will be offered two special stripe options for the exterior. Available in vinyl and hand-painted forms, the accents are designed to enhance the performance-oriented exterior of the car.

The vinyl stripes accentuate the raised center of the hood and can be finished with low and high gloss finishes to match the rest of the car’s design. The striping can be extended onto the black painted roof with the Appearance Package.

The premium painted stripe graphics, meanwhile, are inspired by airflow over the Mustang Dark Horse’s body, and carry the gloss black finish from the center of the grille through the hood extractor, over the roof, and to the rear spoiler. Painted by hand using a specialized process, these are unique to the model.

Step Inside

The black and blue theme from the exterior is continued in the interior, with an all-new anodized blue titanium shift knob for vehicles equipped with the six-speed manual transmission. The lightweight material was chosen so that the design team could make the knob hollow, thereby insulating it in warm weather, preventing it from burning your hand.

For buyers who choose the 10-speed automatic transmission, there will be a traditional knob on the gear lever. Anodized silver paddle shifters, though, will be installed behind the steering wheel for better feel.

Elsewhere, Bright Indigo Blue contrast stitching that can be found across the instrument panels, the seats, the gear shift boot, and on the center console trim. The Mustang Dark Horse also gets a flat-bottomed steering wheel that is covered in suede for better grip.

The available electronic drift brake handle, meanwhile, is anodized and features a leather-wrapped handle. The lever is designed to help the driver modulate brake pressure to the rear wheels to help initiate a drift.

Also available inside is the Mustang Dark Horse Appearance Package, which adds Recaro performance seats that have Deep Indigo Blue bolsters trimmed with Bright Indigo Blue accent stitching, while blue seatbelts round out the look.

Instead of the bright silver vents and bezels found in other Mustangs, those sections will be finished in “Black Alley” on the Mustang Dark Horse. The car also gets laser-etched carbon fiber grain throughout the interior to convey the car’s performance aspirations. Finally, the model will also get a badge on the dash that includes the particular vehicle’s chassis number.
