If you want an SUV that’s luxurious and offers extraordinary levels of performance, both the Rivian R1S and Lamborghini Urus are good options. But which is quicker?

For its latest drag race, the crew from Throttle House gathered both a Urus and R1S for a series of drag races at Willow Springs International Raceway. To make things even more interesting, they also brought with them a Shelby F-150 Super Snake. While the potent pickup truck isn’t a competitor to either the Lamborghini or the Rivian, it does add some extra excitement to the races.

First, the stats. The R1S is the most powerful of the trio thanks to its four electric motors that combine to churn out 845 hp and 908 lb-ft (1,231 Nm) of torque. However, it is also the heaviest, tipping the scales at 3,175 kg (7,000 lbs). Next, we have the Shelby, churning out 775 hp from its 5.0-liter supercharged. Last but not least is the Lamborghini Urus with a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 rated at 650 hp and 627 lb-ft (850 Nm). It weighs 4,844 lbs (2,197 kg), roughly 2,200 lbs (1,000 kg) less than the R1S.

In the first race, the Lamborghini and Rivian are neck-and-neck while the Shelby is left far behind. For most of the race, the two super SUVs remained within inches of each other but it was ultimately the R1S that came out on top, beating the Urus by roughly 1 foot.

Next is a roll race. Things did not work out so well for the Urus in this race as the R1S sprinted off into the distance and took a comfortable victory.
