The Citroen C4 Cactus might have been discontinued in Europe without a planned successor, but the model is still available in South America where it just got subtle upgrades for 2024.

Citroen started producing the C4 Cactus in Brazil in 2018, featuring a number of differences compared to the European facelifted version that debuted the same year. Those include the addition of roof rails, higher ground clearance, a more conventional digital instrument cluster, and rear side windows that can roll down (unlike the fixed glass on the EU-spec model).

For 2024, the South American C4 Cactus gets fresh options for the alloy wheel measuring 16 inches and 17 inches in diameter. Another new feature is the Orange Pearl accents around the fog lights and on the airbumps, matching the C-pillar stickers and the line under the C4 lettering on the tailgate.

While exterior changes are hardly noticeable, the highlight is the new 10-inch touchscreen for the Citroen Connect infotainment, which supports wired Android Auto and wireless Apple CarPlay. The larger display is combined with a wireless charging pad, 3 new USB ports (2 at the front and 1 at the back with a cable organizer), a larger storage compartment under the central armrest, and new fabric upholstery for the seats. Standard equipment includes automatic air conditioning, a keyless entry and start/stop system, the Grip Control selector for light off-roading, six airbags, and more.

Predictably, the powertrain lineup has been carried over as Europe’s strict emissions rules do not apply in South America. The most potent turbocharged 1.6-liter THP petrol engine produces 173 hp (129 kW / 175 PS) allowing a 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) acceleration in 7.7 seconds and a top speed of 212 km/h (132 mph). Note that the C4 Cactus is one of the few remaining models based on the old PSA PF1 architecture shared with the European C3 supermini, as well as the C3 Aircross and Opel Crossland B-SUVs.

Pricing for the 2024 Citroen C4 Cactus starts from 106,990 Brazilian Real ($21,813) or from 7,937,800 Argentinan Pesos ($30,423) depending on the market, making it slightly more affordable compared to its predecessor.
