Porsche introduced the facelifted Cayenne earlier this year, but the automaker has announced it will have new features that will make iPhone owners happy. In particular, the My Porsche App will now be accessible within Apple CarPlay.

This is a first and it means far greater integration between the Cayenne and CarPlay. As Porsche explained, users will be able to “access core functions” including audio and climate controls as well as more obscure settings such as the ambient lighting system.

Porsche went on to say these functions can be combined into “wellness modes” such as Relax, Warm Up, and Refresh using quick actions in CarPlay. As a result, it sounds like Relax mode could be programmed to turn the temperature down, change the ambient lighting to blue, and set to play relaxing music.

The integration also means owners can use Siri to control various vehicle functions with their voice. Porsche added activation is as easy as scanning a QR code displayed on the infotainment system.

While the technology is being launched on the Cayenne, it will eventually be rolled out on additional models. Porsche went on to say we can expect future updates that “continuously enhance the driving experience.”

Mattias Ulbrich, CEO of Porsche Digital and CIO of Porsche AG, said “We are excited to further improve the My Porsche App and using the capabilities of Apple CarPlay to deliver a truly enhanced customer experience.” He added, “Technology and digitization are crucial factors for the enduring fascination of our brand.”
