British company Lunaz has just unveiled a thoroughly restored and overhauled Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud II that now features an electric powertrain.

This special Silver Cloud II was originally built in 1960 for Oscar-winning actress Sophia Loren and Lunaz has left no stone unturned in bringing it into the 21st century. The changes start with the paint, which now incorporates a special two-tone finish and combines elements in Shale over lower panels bathed in Rich Gold.

The restoration experts then turned their attention to the interior of the classic Rolls-Royce. It is finished in Sage leather with burr walnut wood detailing and custom carpets using material from reclaimed nylon fishing nets and a backing made from recycled ocean plastics. The car also now has heated seats, an audio system that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, USB-A and USB-C charging ports, a reversing camera, and cruise control.

Lunaz Transforms 1960 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud II Into An EV For Hotel Use

Like all of its other projects, Lunaz has ditched the car’s original internal combustion engine and replaced it with an electric powertrain. While it hasn’t provided specific details about the new powertrain of this Silver Cloud II, we do know the British firm has previously built an electric Rolls-Royce Phantom with a massive 120 kWh battery pack, so it’s possible this car has the same battery.

This one-off Silver Cloud II forms part of Lunaz’s new Hotel Programme where it restores and modifies classic Bentley and Rolls-Royce models owned by various luxury hotels around the world. Lunaz says hotels will use these vehicles to transport guests to and from airports as well as provide chauffeur services. The EV conversions will be used in markets including Europe, the Middle East, the U.S., and South East Asia.

“Every Rolls-Royce elevated by Lunaz has its own unique and fascinating story to tell, but few can match this exceptional Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud II, which was built in 1960 and first owned by the famous actress synonymous with elegance and style, Sophia Loren,” Lunaz founder David Lorenz said. “In elevating this beautiful, historically important classic to fully-electric power, we’ve remained absolutely faithful to its original spirit and purpose: to use the most advanced technology available to convey passengers in perfect serenity, privacy and comfort. Through this car, and other vehicles built through the Lunaz Hotel Programme, we’re enabling the world’s leading hotel and residence operators to add a new dimension to their guests’ experience.”
