When you think about performance, Zeekr doesn’t exactly spring to mind. However, that could change as the company has unveiled the insane 001 FR.

Pitched as a rival to the “dull” Tesla Model S Plaid, the car has a quad motor powertrain producing 1,248 hp (930 kW / 1,265 PS) and  944 lb-ft (1,280 Nm) of torque. Those are hypercar numbers and they enable the model to rocket from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 2.07 seconds “in a rolling start scenario.”

That’s quick, but the top speed is limited to 174 mph (280 km/h). While it’s nothing to sneeze at, the Model S Plaid can hit 200 mph (322 km/h).

To deal with the extreme performance, the model has “straight waterfall oil cooling technology” and rear motors wrapped in carbon fiber. These help to keep things running smoothly, although peak performance is only available for 10 seconds at a time and only when the car has more than a 50% charge.

Power is provided by a 100 kWh battery pack that features 800V technology and a “multifunctional elastic interlayer” that “greatly improves energy density, heat dissipation, and safety.” The company didn’t mention a range, but said the battery can go from a 10-80% charge in as little as 15 minutes.

Sticking with the performance theme, the quad motor powertrain allows for impressive handling as the car can pull 1.4 G’s in corners. The setup also enables the vehicle to perform tank turns as the wheels on one side can turn forward, while the wheels on the other side reverse. When activated, the vehicle can spin itself 360 degrees.

The upgrades extend beyond the powertrain as the car has been outfitted with a high-performance braking system that has ten-piston AP Racing front calipers that grab onto 16.5 inch (420 mm) Brembo carbon ceramic front discs. Out back, there are four-piston calipers and 16.1 inch (410 mm) discs.

On the styling front, there’s an aggressive carbon fiber body kit that includes a front splitter, side skirts, a rear diffuser, and a sizable wing. They’re joined by a carbon fiber roof, carbon fiber mirror caps, and 22-inch aluminum wheels wrapped in high-performance rubber.
