The Ford F-150 Lightning model family is getting a new member next year, called the Flash. Intended as a tech-forward trim, it adds just about every digital toy Ford has to offer, but with fewer luxury touches than the higher-trim models.

Starting at $69,995 (excluding destination fee), the 2024 F-150 Lightning Flash builds on the XLT trim, which starts at $57,495. The new trim sits below the Lariat, Platinum, and Platinum Black in the lineup.

The new F-150 Lightning Flash will come with standard features such as a 15.5-inch LCD touchscreen with swipe capability, a Bang & Olufsen sound system with eight speakers, a subwoofer, and HD Radio. Drivers and passengers will also have access to wireless charging for their smart devices.

In addition, the F-150 Lightning Flash comes standard with Ford’s Intelligent Access with push button start. This includes approach detection, which can tell if someone with a key is nearing, as well as a SecuriCode keyless access number pad.

Owners will also get a power tailgate, which comes with a step and a work surface, and the Tow Technology Package, which adds Pro Trailer Backup Assist, Trailer Brake Controller, Smart Hitch, on-board scales, a smart trailer tow connection point, and trailer reverse guidance. The F-150 Lightning Flash gets a heat pump in order to maximize range, which is an EPA-estimated 320 miles (515 km) given the Flash comes standard with the larger battery pack.

To help drivers once they’re on the highway, the truck can be equipped with BlueCruise 1.2, which offers Lane Change Assist, and in-lane repositioning, and the system can be improved over time with over-the-air updates. Owners can sign up for monthly or annual subscriptions after their 90-day free trial is over.

“The F-150 Lightning Flash is a direct outcome of engaging with and learning from our customers,” said Marin Gjaja, the Chief Operating Officer for Ford Model e. “This truck combines many of the technology-forward features our customers love in our EV lineup, at a more accessible price.”

As with the rest of the lineup, the 2024 Ford F-150 Lightning Flash will be available to order online early next year.
