Genesis will drop the old 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine from the G70 lineup for North America in the coming model year. In its place, there will be a more powerful, 2.5-liter engine that will help up the entry level sedan’s game.

The new 2.5-liter turbocharged engine was first offered to South Korean customers delivering 300 hp (224 kW/304 PS) and 311 lb-ft (422 Nm) of torque. That’s an increase of 48 hp (36 kW/49 PS) over the outgoing 2.0-liter unit, which made a relatively modest 252 hp (188 kW/255 PS) and 260 lb-ft (353 Nm) of torque.

“We are pleased to bring important updates to our award-winning G70 lineup,” said Claudia Marquez, COO, Genesis Motor North America. “Customers are passionate about the exhilarating driving experience provided by the G70 sport sedan, and we can’t wait to offer them a number of enhancements, including more standard power and performance for the 2024 model.”

The 2.5-liter turbocharged units will join the 3.3-liter turbo V6, which soldiers on for the 2024 model year. The larger engine offers drivers 365 hp (272 kW/370 PS), and returns 18 MPG in the city, and 27 MPG on the highway. Fuel economy ratings for the new 2.5-liter engine have not yet been announced.

What else is new?

Also new for 2024, the G70 will come with high-performance Brembo brakes as standard, to improve owners’ driving experience. Inside, the 2024 model also gets a new touch-type climate control display, and a frameless rearview mirror.

In terms of aesthetics, Genesis is offering new exterior and interior colors for the G70 in the coming model year. Outside, buyers will be able to select Vatna Gray or Kawah Blue exterior paint. Inside, Obsidian Black/Fog Gray and Obsidian Black/Vanilla Beige colorways have been added to the options list.

For convenience, the 2024 G70 will be offered with Genesis Digital Key 2 with NFC compatibility, that can be paired using Apple Wallet or Samsung Pass. The tech allows owners to use their phone as a car key, and allows them to share it with other drivers via iMessage, for example.

In addition, new USB-C charging points and a rear side airbag will be standard features. Finally, the car will benefit from improved switches, door and console garnishes, cub holders, and an updated badge that features finer detailing.

Genesis says it will share pricing for the 2024 G70, as well as information about availability, at a later date.
