• Prosecutors say Alvi Limani was racing a BMW M5 when his BMW X3 crashed, killing a passenger.
  • Limani and his mother were allegedly fleeing the U.S. before being arrested on a Miami flight.
  • The case shares similarities with the “Squeeze Benz” scene, though no official link has been made.

A routine flight from Miami took an unexpected turn when police boarded the plane on July 17 and escorted a Staten Island mother and her son into custody. Authorities claim the pair was attempting to flee the country after the son’s alleged role in a deadly street race on New Jersey’s Garden State Parkway. Both now face serious charges, along with two others connected to the incident.

Police say 20-year-old Alvi Limani was driving a BMW X3 on June 29, racing a BMW M5 southbound near mile marker 130. Evidently, Limani’s driving skill leaves a lot to be desired because investigators say that he hit two other vehicles before rolling the X3 several times. In the process, two passengers were ejected, including 20-year-old Albion Hysenaj, who died at the scene.

Flight to Florida

Another passenger, Emily Harrington, allegedly fled the crash site on foot with Limani. NBC Miami reports that Limani ultimately went to Miami, Florida, with his mother, Vilma Vneshta, to flee the country. Authorities caught up with them while they were on a flight, and video from the scene recently popped up online. In it, we see police boarding the plane and then guiding Limani and Vneshta off the airliner in handcuffs.

Limani now faces several charges, including first-degree aggravated manslaughter, second-degree vehicular homicide, leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death, driving with a suspended license, tampering with public records, assault by auto, and more. His mother is facing a charge of third-degree hindering.

While police didn’t link Limani to the controversial ‘Squeeze Benz’ social media crew and leader Antonio Ginestri, he shares several similarities with the group. They’re of similar age, drive in similar places, and have a taste for BMWs. Social media accounts linked to Hysenaj show that some of the Squeeze Benz associates follow one another.

All four defendants in the Limani case, including the driver of the BMW M5 and Harrington, are due in court on August 28. The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities are seeking additional witnesses or footage of the crash and subsequent events.
