• Porsche set three storming lap times at the Road Atlanta circuit.
  • The 911 GT2 RS Manthey edged out the new Corvette ZR1.
  • Porsche also set an N/A record with the latest GT3 RS Manthey.

It’s been almost a decade since the 991.2 Porsche 911 GT2 RS was launched in 2017, and it’s still continuing to break records. Equipped with the optional Manthey Kit, the car recently set a new production-car lap record at Road Atlanta, dethroning the Chevy Corvette ZR1.

Porsche has spent years dominating the timing charts at Road Atlanta, most recently setting benchmark laps for production sedans and SUVs with the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid and Cayenne Turbo GT last year. During Porsche’s latest outing at the track, a 2019MY 911 GT2 RS Manthey with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R N0 tires set a lap time of 1:22.649, narrowly edging out the ZR1’s 1:22.82.

This isn’t the first time the GT2 RS has set a record at Road Atlanta. In 2019, it set a production car lap record of 1:24.88, but that car didn’t have any aerodynamic upgrades.

Naturally-Aspirated King

Not satisfied with taking the outright production-car lap record, Porsche also used a 2025 911 GT3 RS with the Manthey Kit to set a lap record for a naturally aspirated production car. It lapped the circuit in a blistering 1:23.932. To put that into perspective, the previous-generation 911 GT3 RS needed 1:26.24 to lap the circuit.

Not far behind the GT3 RS was the brand-new, 992.2-gen 911 GT3 with the Manthey Kit. While its aero package isn’t as insane as the one on the RS, it still lapped the track in 1:24.639, itself a very impressive feat.

Evidently, the GT2 RS remains the fastest production Porsche 911 ever built, and the fact that it can beat the 1,064 hp Corvette ZR1, only launched last year, shows just how phenomenal it still is. At the Nurburgring, the GT2 RS Manthey remains the third-fastest production car ever, only trailing the Mercedes-AMG One and Ford Mustang GTD Competition.
