• New MG concept previews a small electric hatchback at Goodwood FOS.
  • It will be joined by another study described as an “electric design vision”.
  • MG’s stand for 2026 will also feature robots and production models.

MG is heading to the 2026 Goodwood Festival of Speed with more than a parking spot. The SAIC-owned brand trading on its British past confirmed two concept cars bound for production, parked alongside interactive robot displays and a spread of current models.

The first concept is a subcompact hatchback running a fully electric powertrain, due on the road in 2027. The model still has no name, but the teasers tell the story. The nose is rounded and grille-less with headlights that lean cute rather than aggressive. The MG badge sits on the C-pillar, and the tail goes sporty with modern LEDs and a large roof spoiler.

The EV slots into Europe’s B-segment as the zero-emission counterpart to the MG2 Hybrid. That puts it straight into the path of the Renault 5 E-Tech, Nissan Micra, VW ID. Polo, Cupra Raval, Mini Cooper Electric, Peugeot E-208, and the rest of the subcompact-EV field.

MG didn’t show the other concept but described it as an “electric design vision”. Still, it won’t be a simple design study as it will evolve into an “aspirational upcoming model to further enhance the MG lineup.”

As for production models, the automaker will display the MGS9 PHEV, the MG4 EV, the ZS Hybrid, the HS PHEV, the Cyberster and the IM5 sedan from last year. Furthermore, the MGS9 PHEV, the MGS6 EV and the Cyberster will participate at the hill climb.

The MG booth at Goodwood will also include a “display of robots to entertain the public with interactive performances”.

Everything about the new concepts gets revealed at the festival premiere on July 9, when MG Global Design Vice President Jozef Kaban does the unveiling honors.
