• The entry-level Corolla Cross Hybrid S has been dropped for 2027.
  • Hybrid buyers now choose between the SE and XSE, both with standard AWD.
  • Gas models start at $25,535, while the Hybrid SE begins at $31,415.

Toyota has given the Corolla Cross a very light touch for 2027. In fact, if you already know the 2026 model, there isn’t much studying required here. The compact crossover carries over largely unchanged, although hybrid buyers now have one fewer trim to choose from. Oh, and there’s one more thing to consider. The price just went up.

The big news in terms of trims is the disappearance of the Corolla Cross Hybrid S. Toyota previously offered the electrified model in S, SE, and XSE flavors, but the 2027 lineup has been pared down to just SE and XSE. Everything else, Toyota says, carries over from the previous model year.

Powertrains haven’t changed either. Gas-powered Corolla Cross models continue to use a 2.0-liter four-cylinder producing 169 hp (126 kW), paired with a CVT that incorporates a physical first gear. Buyers can choose front- or all-wheel drive, with Toyota estimating up to 31 mpg combined for FWD versions and 30 mpg combined with AWD. Nothing about that is particularly surprising.

The Hybrid version continues on as a more powerful and efficient version. Win-win. It produces 196 hp (146 kW) and comes standard with electronic on-demand all-wheel drive. Toyota estimates both the SE and XSE will return 46 mpg city, 39 mpg highway, and 42 mpg combined. The standard equipment largely carries over as well.

Base buyers should expect an 8-inch infotainment system, while a 10.5-inch display is available on the LE and Hybrid SE. It’s standard on the XLE and Hybrid XSE. Higher trims also get a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, while wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto remain standard across the lineup.

Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 also remains standard and includes adaptive cruise control, lane tracing assist, automatic high beams, road sign recognition, and pre-collision braking with pedestrian detection. For 2027, the gas-powered Corolla Cross starts at $25,535 for the L with front-wheel drive, while the newly entry-level Hybrid SE begins at $31,415. Those figures exclude Toyota’s processing and handling fee, which isn’t mentioned in Toyota’s latest release.

Expect the updated 2027 Corolla Cross to arrive at dealers this fall. It’s not much of an update, but keep in mind our review for 2026. It’s basically the RAV4 for a whole new generation. The fuel economy, safety features, interior space, and clever storage spaces all make for a very useful everyday crossover. So yeah, it’s a touch more expensive, but isn’t just about everything these days?
