There’s a huge performance gap between the Tesla Model S P85D, with 619 hp and all-wheel drive, and a twenty-year-old Ferrari 550 with only rear-wheel drive and a meager 485 hp.

The Tesla reaches sixty a whole second faster on paper and this is immediately apparent in the real world too.

Check out the difference between the two cars in the ad-hoc drag race shown in the video below. The Tesla shoots off the line with no wheelspin or drama, giving the Ferrari no chance to keep up.

The internet is still currently very sparsely populated with P85D acceleration videos, but the one against the Ferrari is pretty eloquent. There’s also another (shorter) one which is shot from inside, although you really need to put it up against something comparable to really see what it’s made of.
