Ford's New GT is the Car that Stole the Acura NSX's Thunder in Detroit

| |

Poor Acura, all that hype and emotional build-up about its reborn NSX, only to have Ford's spanking hot GT hogging all the limelight at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show.

To be fair, though, Ford's GT was an unknown quantity, a never before seen supercar, while Acura has been parading conceptual and pre-production studies of the NSX all over the world for the past three years, so more or less, we knew what to expect beforehand.

The GT is a sharp looking supercar and my only qualms with the exterior are the slightly cartoonish and oversized tail lamps, but that's something I could live with.

While the design looks to Ford's past for inspiration, the Blue Oval's engineering team was focused on the future giving the new GT a carbon fiber construction and a twin-turbo 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 with more than 600-ponies. This at a time that Italy's Lamborghini and Ferrari are still offering their Gallardo and 458 Italia with large displacement, naturally-aspirated V10 and V8 mills respectively. How the times are changing…
