While Tesla is slowly growing into a credible automaker, there’s no way around it – the Model X crossover should have been here by now, or at least here in 2015. I mean, we’ve heard so many rumors of possible rivals from mainstream marques that we wonder if they’ll even be the first to offer a vehicle of its type.

Now, though, the first footage that we know of showing a prototype Model X has just surfaced. The video is not of the highest quality (was shot on an iPhone 5 fully zoomed in), so it’s a bit shaky and blurry.

You can still make out what the vehicle is, though, and looking at its shape it’s easy to spot the (now) familiar tapered shape.

The vehicle was probably full of measuring equipment and the driver was most likely testing lateral g and/or braking; do check out the video’s description for the complete picture – the author says it’s not a publicity stunt and that he just happened upon the Model X.
