The current Renault Megane RS can be had with optional Öhlins, but are they worth the extra cash?

EVO got together with Öhlins to create an official video detailing their efficacy for both road and track driving conditions. Two cars, one fitted with standard shocks, the other with the uprated ones are sent through the same series of corners to see if there’s any difference.

On track, aside from the ease with which they soak up the resonance-inducing curbs, understeer is gauged as well.

Overall, the difference the special dampers make seems to be evident. They don’t improve anything massively, but with the right settings they can be tailored for specific conditions so in that respect the improvement can be more notable.

It definitely is an option worth having if you don’t mind spending the extra cash – the (sponsored) video posted below makes a compelling case for them.
