The new Honda Civic will reportedly head back to dealerships as the automaker plans to announce a recall.

Honda issued a stop sale last week, as the 2016 Civic vehicles apparently suffer from a condition that might lead to engine failure. The action affects models equipped with the 2.0-liter four-cylinder unit and has nothing to do with the 1.5-liter turbo mill.

While the specific details of this action are still being determined, American Honda has provided preliminary information to the NHTSA and intends to provide more details in a formal notification to NHTSA on Friday, February 5“, said Chris Martin, Honda spokesperson, to Autoblog.

A CivicX post claims to have the document detailing the fault, which purportedly states that 34,000 units of the 2016 Civic are affected by this action. The cars apparently have missing or miss-set piston pin snap rings, which can cause engine stall or failure.

The document states that dealers will inspect the potentially affected engines with a borescope, but since parts are not yet available, the recall is expected to begin in March.

Honda’s new Civic was crowned 2016 North American Car of the Year and a week later, IIHS awarded it with a Top Safety Pick+.
