With more power and more torque at its disposal, the Jaguar F-Type R Coupe seems completely prepared for a little drag race against a 911 GT3 RS. Or does it?

Both seem to transcend the sports car segment and trespass into supercar territory. Υes, even the Jag. It’s got a 5.0-liter supercharged V8 engine, producing 550 PS and 680 Nm (501 lb-ft) of torque between 2,500 and 5,500 rpm, which pretty much translates into “more than just a sports car”.

The GT3 RS, on the other hand, has to make do with “only” 500 PS and 460 Nm (339 lb-ft), which are available at 6,250 rpm – pretty high up the rev range, even for a naturally aspirated engine.

You’d think the GT3 RS wasn’t specifically made for drag racing, and you’d probably be right. But in order to set lap records you need to be quick when exiting those corners, and acceleration obviously couldn’t be overlooked.

In terms of top speed, there’s just 10 km/h (6 mph) between them (the advantage actually going to the Porsche), though one of these cars does have a rather sizable advantage over the other. In fact, it trashes its opponent. And the winner is…
