Instead of a 3008 GTi version that some had hoped for when Peugeot dropped a teaser the other day, the French brand introduced a much milder GT model and GT Line equipment grade for their new compact crossover.

Positioned at the top of the range, the new 3008 GT will be exclusively available with the most potent engine available for the series, PSA’s 2.0-liter BlueHDi turbo diesel four producing 180PS (178hp) paired to the EAT6 automatic six-speed gearbox. Peugeot has not released any performance or fuel economy figures yet on the GT – or any of the other available powertrains, for that matter.

Besides the 180PS diesel, the GT gets unique 19-inch wheels shod in wider rubber (235/50 R19) along with some other cosmetic exterior tweaks such as the LED headlights and sequential indicators, a unique chequered chrome grille, dual exhaust outlets, slightly wider wheel arch moldings, satin aluminum trim, standard two-tone roof and optional two-tone body.

On the inside, the GT gets copper topstitching on the dashboard trim, door trim panels and central armrests, part Alcantara or optionally, full leather seats, genuine aged-oak trim, touches of satin steel chrome, a flat bottom steering wheel and a copper shade for the digital instrument panel display.

Continuing its confusing approach of offering both a GT model and a GT Line trim, all of the components that we mentioned before with the exception of the 19-inch wheels with wider wheel arches that are replaced by 18-inch rims on the stock wheel arches, are available on the 3008 GT Line that can be had with the entire range of engines sans the 1.6L BlueHDi 100 S&S and of course, the 2.0L BlueHDi 180 S&S, that is reserved for the GT.

European sales of the new 2017 Peugeot 3008 are expected to begin later this fall.
