BMW has been responsible for creating more than its fair share of art cars, but the automaker insists that this is not one of them. It’a an i3 dubbed the Spaghetti Car, and it’s the result of a joint effort between artist Maurizio Cattelan and photographer Pierpaolo Ferrari.

The one-off vehicle is covered in a wrap with a spaghetti pattern that reminds us of a certain Guns N’ Roses album from the early 1990s. It was created for the Rencontres d’Arles Festival of Photography in Arles, France. And given its unusual and “creative” appearance, it might be confused for one of BMW’s art cars.

Unlike the rest of the company’s artistic projects, however, this one is set to be destroyed once the festival is over. Or at least denuded of its creative appearance.

That doesn’t mean that BMW is done with its art cars, though. Following the one created by Jeff Koons in 2010, American sculptor John Baldessari and Chinese artist Cao Fei are working on transforming the M6 GT3 into a “rolling sculpture” of sorts.
