Hyundai UK announced that the Ioniq, the world’s first car to be offered with three electrified powertrains, will go on sale in the UK from October 13, with prices kicking off at £19,995 for the Ioniq Hybrid SE 1.6 GDi.

The entry-level hybrid version will come with 15in wheels, DAB audio system with Bluetooth, cruise control, parking sensors with rear view camera, autonomous emergency braking, lane keep assist system and tire pressure monitoring system as standard.

Powered by a hybrid powertrain that combines a 103hp (105PS) 1.6-litre petrol engine with a 43hp (43.5PS) electric motor via a six-speed dual-clutch gearbox, the Ioniq Hybrid produces a total of 139hp (141PS) and 108lb ft (147Nm) of torque. 0-62mph (0-100km/h) comes in 10.8 seconds with the top speed set at 115mph (185km/h). Hyundai claims a combined fuel economy of 83.1 mpg UK (3.4lt/100km) and just 79gr/km of CO2 emissions for the base model with the 15in wheels.

Prices for the purely electric version start at £28,995, which will get you a much more generous equipment level mirroring that of the Hybrid Premium trim, including LED headlamps, adaptive cruise control and integrated navigation system among others.

The all-electric version will also be eligible for the UK government’s Plug-In Car Grant, meaning that potential customers will also get £4,500 grant towards the purchase of the vehicle.

Under the bonnet lies an 118hp (119.7PS) electric motor with 218lb ft (295Nm) of torque on tap being fed by a 28kWh battery pack. Hyundai claims a maximum driving range of 174 miles (280km). 0-62mph comes in 9.9 seconds while top speed is set at 103mph (166km/h).

All versions of the Ioniq Electric will feature as standard the so-called rapid charge capability, offering an 80 per-cent charge capability in just 33 minutes using a 50kW CCS Combo Rapid public charger. The all-electric version also features adjustable regenerative braking via steering column mounted paddles.

The new Hyundai Ioniq Hybrid will be offered in seven different exterior colors including Phantom Black, Polar White, Platinum Silver, Iron Grey, Demitasse Brown, Marina Blue and Phoenix Orange. Interior trim features blue accents throughout the cabin.

The all-electric version will be offered in six different exterior colors: Polar White, Phantom Black, Platinum Silver, Marina Blue, Phoenix Orange and exclusively for IONIQ Electric, Blazing Yellow. The cabin is decorated with copper accents in this case.

Hyundai will offer every Ioniq model with its 5-year unlimited mileage warranty with the additional high-voltage battery cover set at 8 years/125,000 miles.
