2017 Nissan Pathfinder Excels At NHTSA Safety Tests

Nissan’s refreshed Pathfinder has earned itself a five-star overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

The Pathfinder has been a solid performer in crash tests since 2014, yet with multiple driver assistance technologies at play, it’s easy to see why the Japanese SUV could feel confident walking into any type of safety test.

“This latest Pathfinder is designed to be everything customers want in a family adventure vehicle,” said Michael Bruce, VP of product planning for Nissan North America. “Pathfinder delivers a safe and secure driving experience that is now augmented with our Nissan Safety Shield suite of technologies.”

Among its previously mentioned advanced driver assistance systems are the new Forward Emergency Braking system and the Intelligent Cruise Control. For 2017, Nissan also added Moving Object Detection to the Around View Monitor, working in tandem with the Blind Spot Warning and the Rear Cross Traffic Alert systems.

The 2017 Pathfinder also comes with standard safety features such as the Advanced Air Bag System with dual-stage front supplemental air bags with seat belt sensors and occupant classification sensor, front seat-mounted side-impact air bags, roof-mounted curtain air bags (for side impact & rollover head protection), LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children), child safety rear door locks as well as Vehicle Dynamic Control and a Traction Control system.
