Two thieves have been arrested in the United States by the Houston Police Department and they are facing charges of stealing over 100 vehicles by using pirated software and hacking into the vehicles.

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles says that the duo somehow obtained software that is exclusively available to dealers, service shops and locksmiths. This software allows a user to reprogram the vehicle’s computer to accept a new key fob by simply entering in the vehicle’s VIN.

Left Lane News says the Houston Police Department asserts that the thieves targeted Jeep Wranglers, Cherokees and a number of Dodge pickup trucks from the Houston area. The stolen vehicle’s were then transported across the Mexican border, generally in the middle of the night.

In a statement, FCA said that it is cooperating with the Houston Police Department.

This isn’t the first time the firm has been targeted by hackers. Last year, FCA was forced to recall 1.4 million vehicles due to a security vulnerability in its Uconnect infotainment system.
