Jaguar Land Rover has announced a collaboration with Spotify which will see the music streaming service launched in JLR’s infotainment systems.

Spotify has developed an application exclusively for the Jaguar Land Rover InControl Apps library, promising to provide a familiar Spotify experience directly from the infotainment screen. Just like on your phone, the JLR app functions when connected to the internet and when offline.

According to director of connected technologies and apps at Jaguar Land Rover, Peter Virk, “Spotify has 100 million active users and over 40 million subscribers, a proportion of whom drive Jaguar or Land Rover vehicles, so we recognized that Spotify was at the top of our customers’ apps wish list.

“The Spotify design team worked closely with us to create the best in-vehicle experience, and have spent many hours with us at our Gaydon HQ running user studies with our employees. The app is now available in our InControl Apps library, and we will continue to work with Spotify to add new features such as predictive search over the coming months,” Virk said.

To help celebrate the launch, Ricky Wilson from the Kaiser Chiefs and British rapper Example each created their own driving playlists while hitting the road in the Range Rover Evoque Convertible and Jaguar XE.
