With more power than even a Golf GTI, VW’s most dynamic Tiguan ever to be sold in the UK, will be available for order this October starting from £36,450.

Mated to VW’s 4MOTION four-wheel drive system as standard, the BiTDI power unit will propel the new Tiguan towards 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 6.5 seconds before maxing out at 142 mph (228 km/h).

Aside from the flagship TDI unit, the Tiguan UK range also welcomes a 2.0 TSI 180 PS petrol unit, available with either a six-speed manual or a seven-speed DSG automatic. Its 0-62 mph (100 km/h) sprint takes 7.7 seconds, with the top speed being 129 mph (207 km/h).

Both new Tiguan engines are exclusively available with the range-topping SEL and R-Line trims. SEL models feature VW’s Discover Navigation infotainment and sat-nav system, 8″ color touch-screen, adaptive cruise control and the 12.3″ Active Info Display.

The R-Line on the other hand has quite a few unique styling features inside and out – from the roof spoiler, rear diffuser, front air intake and 20″ Suzuka alloys, to the bespoke Race cloth seats with ‘San Remo’ microfiber, R-Line logo in the headrest, stainless steel pedals and a black roof lining.

UK buyers looking to purchase the 2.0 TSI 180 PS Tiguan in SEL trim will need to spend upwards of £30,540, whereas the R-Line version will cost £32,855. The 2.0 BiTDI 240 PS model on the other hand costs £36,450 in SEL trim and £38,640 in R-Line trim.
